Hot off a release on the excellent Brave Mysteries comes Spettro Family with a tape for Black Horizons. Purely cinematic sounds here, dark, throbbing synths, chilling vibes and Italian Chanson samples. Perhaps a more exotic and refined Burial Hex meets John Carpenter, colliding with others from Steffano's home country. VERY dark full color 3 panel J-cards with art that is a dimensionless creepy house. Gold labels, red tapes and red cases in an edition of 100 copies.

A long form release in the fluxist tradition of collaboration, tracks selected for and title created by label for Mama Baer and Komissar Hjuler, Germany's most notorious married noise makers. Included also in it's entirety is the track Die Antizipation des Generalized Other, a sound poetry conversation on the subject of George Herbert Mead's given topic, and the source for an extensive ongoing collaboration between the couple and the rest of the world as SHMF-019+, with over 70 reinterpretations by various artists (SHM-019+BH is a Black Horizons graphic reinterpretation of the track, reprinted in BH-50 Provocative Rituals artzine). Grating, emotional, and hyper-personal sound art, that is vulgar and challenging. Lots of yelling in German and incompetent playing of instruments.
Covers are purple and gold offset printing on lime green vellum, 3-panel folded over, with an OBI. Gold labels. Edition of 100 on green tapes in green cases.

Nathaniel Ritter's solo project Circulation Of Light couldn't have a more fitting name for the sound he puts forth, as light circulates one would encounter moments of white intensity as well as moments of darkness, both represented well. Always minimal yet rich and organic; sometimes bright and buzzing, sometimes ominous and expansive. New age with it's flipside dark ambient. Profound work from Nathaniel including involvement with Burial Hex, Kinit Her, and Wreathes as well as half of the Brave Mysteries label. Offset printing with silver ink on bronze metallic stock. Silver labels. Edition of 100 copies on clear hi-bias chrome tapes.

Captured from a live set played in their hometown, and the debut material for the new expanded four piece line-up. Live drums that pound forward in a minimal post-punk way, accompanied by a drum machine, and dual synths. Layered with feminine shrieks and howls that loop and bounce off all the walls. Songs that are fragmented and dark, yet catchy. Also included is a bonus track of improvised noise recorded seperately, the band also known for a noisy approach with interludes made up of sheets of white noise.
J-card is long with 4 panels, and double sided silver printing, on black plastic paper. Xeroxed silver labels. Edition of 200 copies on black hi-bias chrome tapes.

Two quick tracks make up this tape, intended as a single. Andy Lippoldt's Persistence In Mourning has grown sound-wise over the years from orthodox funeral doom to take on more diverse and experimental elements including electronics, heavy sampling, and a penchant for odd covers (see BH-34), aligning his project with acts like Thrones more so than much of the other doom crowd. Those elements find their realization here in rigid electronic percussion, fear-ridden sound clips, and synthesized sub-bass fluctuations. Comes packaged in a double OBI with a two panel insert as is becoming the new Black Horizons style. Printed offset with silver ink on moss metallic card stock. Also includes a silver ink on black fabric patch. Silver labels. Edition of 100 copies on black hi-bias chrome tapes.

Hoor Paar Kraat has been churning out quality releases for sometime, usually very limited and hand-made, containing some of the most mysterious sounds. This release starts off with a bit of a racket, a concrete assemblage of rapid-fire acoustic sounds, falling into off-kilter and violent patterns, before relaxing, but not much, for a more subdued b-side, which tends to reveal Hoor Paar Kraat's darker qualities. This release has personal meaning to the artist, Anthony has the following to say about it, "cho.re.a (n): Any of various disorders of the nervous system marked by involuntary, jerky movements, especially of the arms, legs, and face, and by incoordination. Inspired by a flawed genetic history and it's effect on a blood-line, Chorea is a look into involuntary repetitive motions, rigidity and breaking down of mental faculties caused by a dehumanizing condition, once thought to be the product of possession and madness. Dedicated to the memory of Anthony Mangicapra and all of those who've suffered the same horrific and humiliating existence. " Packaged in an exterior black slip, with a silver ink on black stock j-card and eight inserts. Also includes a black envelope, containing a razor blade. The envelope is signed, numbered in roman numerals, and thumb stamped by the artist in gold ink. Edition of 100 in black hi-bias chrome tapes with gold labels. Click here for a close up of the cover.

Possibly one of the strangest releases to grace Black Horizons, five bedroom black / noise / doom acts take on Swedish pop group Army Of Lovers, each doing a cover. Opening with the fingernails to the chalkboard that is Deadravenchoir, blackened folk racket, followed by Josh Lay doing a creepy surreal interpretation that is peerless in style, black-noise pop? Ending the first side is Gnaw Their Tongues, whose black metal riffs are so distorted that they are nothing more than background texture to the shrieks and growls. Opening up the second side is Persistence In Mourning, who lay down a thick track of sample-ridden doom, and closing with the always beyond dreary Wolfmangler, appropriately Smolken's final track, "Carry My Urn To Ukraine", for Wolfmangler, and "Crucified" for Deadravenchoir.
Comes packaged with a black vinyl glove, a two-panel insert, horizontal and vertical slips all in metallic green cardstock with black and red offset printing. Hi-bias chrome tapes with silver labels. Edition of 100 copies.

After numerous releases on Black Horizons it is due time that a full length LP was birthed from Anakrid. Deep, dark and somber ambient music selected from the artist's catalogue especially with this label in mind. Two side-long tracks, both bookended in percussion giving the work as a whole a highly composed feeling. Many sounds come and go, barely noticeable but highly organic and dynamic, a testament to the artist's skill at his craft. Few can manage to make bleak minimalist music so rich and fulfilling. Vivid full color hallucinatory cover art courtesy of Ryan Whittier Hale, with a hi-gloss finish, internal black flood printing, black inner-sleeve, black vinyl, and full-color labels. Edition of 259.

A rather appropriate unearthing takes place on this record, as Yellow Swans are posthumously paired up with Chicago's Oakeater. First up is Yellow Swans, with a single side-long track that should please fans of their later, brighter more psychedelic sound as well as those of the more rigid, structured and even melodic sound found on their final LP. Masterfully mixing huge guitars, shards of mixer feedback and discreet loops. Oakeater on the flip side performs the funerary rights with three tracks that fall somewhere between a satanic ritual and a cosmic synth trip, with meditative vocals, throbbing synthesizers, and distant piano lines. On the label and art/design end this was a collaborative effort between Black Horizons and Dead Accents. Comes packaged in a custom euro-style sleeve, offset silver ink on black linen paper. Black vinyl with silver on black center labels in an edition of 500 copies. Click here for a full shot of the packaging.
