DSCRMNT BONUS TAPES : COMING SOON!
Here is a much needed, brief update on the DSCRMNT promo series that we’ve been planning and working on since late 2011;
It was originally intended as a monthly series of split cassingles to be made available on the first of each month for 12 months throughout 2012. Unfortunately, we have had to re-think part of that concept due to the extremely long and unpredictable wait times for pro dubbed and imprinted cassettes. The series is still moving forward, but rather than try to stick to a precise schedule and hope that the plant comes through for us, we’ve decided to simply get the tapes made and make them available when we have them in hand and ready to ship. Whether that means the 1st of the month or the 15th of the month, we’re trying to be flexible and we appreciate everyone’s patience. So, in case you haven’t heard, here is the official explanation of what the tapes are, and why we’re making them:
DSCRMNT bonus tape series 2012: 24 artists each contribute a 5 minute side to a split cassingle series to be issued as a bonus item which will be shared with Discriminate Music customers throughout 2012. We have been receiving material from many of our favorite artists as contribution to the series, and the purpose for the tapes is to help promote ourselves and simultaneously promote the great music that’s happening in the current underground. These tapes will not be available for individual purchase through our site, but will be freely added to customer orders on a first come first serve basis. There will be 12 tapes total and each cassette will be in an edition of 100, with 70 copies being distributed by us and the remaining 30 copies being distributed by the artists involved (presumably to sell on their own websites or on tours etc.).
I’m not going to post the list of participating musicians at this time, but let me just say that the series is fully booked with amazing people that you already know and love, as well as quite a few that we think you should know and should love.
